The Front room presents Vroom works by Mark Esper, John Parker, and Johanna Unzueta April 30th - May 30th Opening Reception: Friday April 30th 6-9 Weekends 1-6 The Front Room is proud to present Vroom, with works by Mark Esper, John Parker, and Johanna Unzueta. Vroom is an exhibit of sculptures and sculptural installations that deal with movement and transportation. The sculptors use nontraditional materials and, in some cases robots, to address issues of science, progress and motion. Mark Esper's work "Revolution" is a work that on several levels appears to be one thing and turns out to be something else. It uses actual physical locomotion to tweak the viewers' perceptions and expectations of what they are seeing. John Parker's sculptural installation is a lyrical and yet playful assemblage of everyday materials that personifies the material through larger accumulation. Johanna Unzueta's, "10 de Julio" is a life-size model of an actual 1960s racing Ferrari made from cardboard. The car is an accumulation of layers of cardboard, a material itself, often associated with boxes and moving, albeit slower than in a racing Ferrari. |
